YAY is right! I'm not watching any of the coverage right now because tonight we're headed to a party: Farewell to W at the W. How awesome is that? They're going to serve Obama drinks and re-screen the swearing in. Here's to some much-needed change!!
No free-time reading right now. It's all work baby.
BUT as a side note, I read the Hunger Games Trilogy this past month. I loved them, though I took issue with how the third book unfolded. More in terms of delivery than plot.
CRITIC'S CORNER: here are my thoughts on the latest movies I've seen...
TRUE GRIT
As expected, we really liked TRUE GRIT. I wouldn't say "loved", but definitely enjoyed and respected this remake of the classic Western novel. We'd recently seen the original film with John Wayne, which I was very happy to have done in advance of seeing this new version. There were definitely changes made, that I've read more closely resembles the book, but all in all, it felt very similar. All the performances were excellent - you'd expect really nothing less from Bridges and Damon, and I agree with the majority assessment that Hailee Steinfeld was excellent. (As it were, she was in our Nickelodeon pilot last year!) All that being said, I don't think this is an Academy Award Winner- though it should get a nomination. It was great to watch, but in the end, a movie I don't need to see again.
