Addendum to my 2008 Movies list....
Chris and I watched THE DARK KNIGHT again last night (only my 2nd time seeing it) and I must movie it up higher on both movie lists for the year. I think there's a good chance that this actually was the best movie of the year....so all hail DARK KNIGHT and I stand corrected.

Yeah, I keep toggling back and forth between Dark Knight and Frost/Nixon. Benjamin Button was a snore... great effects, but not much else. The Visitor, Slumdog and Milk were all great too. But I keep going back to F/N and DK. I don't think Frank will win Best Actor...but he SO deserves it.
I'm just watching THE VISITOR right now and am loving it. about 45 min into it I'd say...
but yeah I think F/N and DK were the best movies of the year b/c they both feel more complete than anything else...great acting, good direction, good stories and screenplays... obviously dark knight had a lot more in terms of effects and action. F/N also felt surprisingly emotional when it was all put together, a lot of which I think was the score.
I read your Critics Corner on The Reader. What I thought about more was what would you do if not following orders meant you would be killed? I thought the movie was interesting but i thought they took some easy outs. Because she didn't say anything about not being able to read, it sort of made her a more compassionate character in some way. I don't know - there were a lot of unsatisfying elements to it for me. but kate was terrific (much better than in RR). I think that by now she must rank as the actress with the most on-screen nudity in the history of non-porn cinema.
