BBQ at the Newlyweds!
On Friday, since we were all lucky enough not to have to work, we went just down the street to our friends Leigh & Ward's house for a midday bbq. Along with Sage and Jeff, we all had a great afternoon of beer, burgers and other yummy munchies.
As the afternoon wore on, we played some flip cup, beer pong and then Kings...which I think was our undoing. The afternoon turned into night and two beer runs later, we were all a bit tired. Luckily Sage was our DD with her allergy meds keeping her on a strict (well mostly strict) Diet Coke regiment for the day.
You can see Leigh & Ward have two beautiful black labs, Turk & Tiller, who are absolutely adorable! They were a bit overexcited when we got there, but I think the boys managed to wear them out with some fetch and rough-housing.
It was a great start to our weekend!

BESIDE THE BED: here's what I'm reading now....
No free-time reading right now. It's all work baby.
BUT as a side note, I read the Hunger Games Trilogy this past month. I loved them, though I took issue with how the third book unfolded. More in terms of delivery than plot.
CRITIC'S CORNER: here are my thoughts on the latest movies I've seen
...
TRUE GRIT
As expected, we really liked TRUE GRIT. I wouldn't say "loved", but definitely enjoyed and respected this remake of the classic Western novel. We'd recently seen the original film with John Wayne, which I was very happy to have done in advance of seeing this new version. There were definitely changes made, that I've read more closely resembles the book, but all in all, it felt very similar. All the performances were excellent - you'd expect really nothing less from Bridges and Damon, and I agree with the majority assessment that Hailee Steinfeld was excellent. (As it were, she was in our Nickelodeon pilot last year!)
All that being said, I don't think this is an Academy Award Winner- though it should get a nomination. It was great to watch, but in the end, a movie I don't need to see again.
